Bruce Lymburn graduated from UCSC in 1979 with a BA in Earth Sciences and Environmental Studies. He graduated in 1982 from BerkeleyLaw at UC Berkeley and was a partner in Bay Area law firms where he practiced real estate, construction and land use law. In 2004 he became the General Counsel of Clif Bar & Company, the maker of energy bars and other food products, where he served until the company was sold in 2022 and Bruce retired.
Bruce has been active in environmental organizations and causes since the 1960’s. He is committed to science-based environmental analysis, and the bottom-line oriented business case for sustainability. In 2002 Bruce led his law firm to become the first US law firm to obtain third-party certification as a “green business.” Bruce was a speaker at a number of legal conferences on the subject of sustainable legal business operations. He also became the first California attorney to become a LEED® Accredited Professional, a green building accreditation from the US Green Building Council.
Bruce’s other experience includes stints as a US Forest Service firefighter in Southern California, a geologic researcher with the National Park Service in Yellowstone National Park, and a member of the Alameda County agricultural commission. He has been a pilot since 1982 and has owned several airplanes.
