For 35 years, Peter Coha worked as a software developer, Automation/IT Engineer, and project manager before retiring from Intel Corporation in September 2013. During his tenure, he rose to the position of Principal Engineer. He contributed to the improvement of Intel’s semiconductor factories globally working primarily in both the final test and wafer fabrication manufacturing. He developed and implemented assembly test modules for a corporate engineering database significantly improving engineering data availability for the complete manufacturing process. For Wafer Fabs, he was responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting factory management and operations projects worldwide, from startup phases to full operations. Peter contributed to computer, network, and application design, installation, and operations, ensuring the smooth running of semiconductor fabrication factories and enhancing computer system reliability. He managed both projects and technical issues.
After retiring, Peter developed a comprehensive water availability model for the Gila River in New Mexico working with a New Mexico water engineer, which provided crucial information in halting a proposed New Mexico Gila Diversion project.
Peter actively supports University of California, Santa Cruz, by participating in UCSC Dean’s councils and promoting multidisciplinary learning opportunities that bridge the sciences, arts, and humanities.
His other interests include kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, and traveling both in the US and internationally.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has resided in Corrales, New Mexico, with his wife, Vicki Nowark for the past 35 years.
